Building Character Co-op (“BCCO,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a non-denominational, faith-based homeschool co-op located in Bellingham, Washington. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our families and their children. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we safeguard it.

Information We Collect

When you register for BCCO, we collect the following information:

• Parent/guardian information: name, email address, phone number, and home address.
• Child information: name, date of birth, and any medical needs or notes you choose to provide.
• Emergency contacts: name, relationship, and phone number(s).
• Account information: email and password for your online account.

You may also optionally provide additional information for our family directory, such as a family photo, bio, hobbies, and neighborhood. All directory information is entirely optional and controlled by privacy settings you manage.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely for the operation of our co-op:

• Facilitating class registration, attendance, and scheduling.
• Communicating with families about co-op activities, events, and announcements.
• Managing volunteer and teaching assignments.
• Processing session fees.
• Ensuring child safety, including access to emergency contact and medical information during co-op hours.
• Displaying directory profiles to other authenticated co-op families, based on your privacy settings.

Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties for marketing or commercial purposes. Ever.

Your information is only accessible to:

• BCCO administrators who need it to operate the co-op.
• Other authenticated co-op families, but only the directory information you have explicitly chosen to share through your privacy settings.

Photos and Videos

BCCO may take photos and videos of children during classes and co-op activities for internal use. Photos and videos are never shared publicly without explicit permission from the child's parent or guardian.

Third-Party Services

We use the following services to operate our platform. These services process data on our behalf and are subject to their own privacy policies:

• Supabase — database hosting and user authentication.
• Vercel — website hosting.
• Resend — transactional email delivery (registration confirmations, notifications).

We do not use any advertising, analytics, or tracking services on this site.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Access to administrative functions is restricted to authorized co-op leaders.

Children's Privacy

Our service collects limited information about children (name, date of birth, and optional medical notes) solely for the purpose of class placement and child safety. This information is provided by parents/guardians and is never made public. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children.

Your Rights

You may at any time:

• Update your family's information through your account.
• Adjust your directory privacy settings to control what other families can see.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting a co-op administrator.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify co-op families through our regular communication channels.
